Inmate texting apps are the most effective way to stay in contact with a family member or friend who is currently imprisoned. These apps are designed to comply with prison regulations and permit family and friends to send messages, pictures videos, eCards, video calls and even money to their prison trust account. There are additional federal inmate apps that offer additional services, like video visits and phone calls.
JPay, for example allows family and friends to send money directly into an inmate’s trust account as well as emails, photos, videograms, and electronic cards. You can also design personalized postcards using their own photos. It's a safer and more secure alternative to regular mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut It provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved family members. The app is available at select correctional facilities and allows prisoners to upload photos and communicate with family and friends via their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message and their loved ones pay cost of accessing them (but there are no explicit images). You can also use the GettingOut app to share pictures on federal inmate text app Facebook or Foursquare and check-in on Foursquare and then add a video to a YouTube upload.
